Our Sunday School learned who Joseph was during our session on September 25.
Every week, teachers Kathy Hume and Pam Dugas-Var welcome children with activities and stories that are based on the same Bible story being used in the main worship service. These Bible readings follow the Narrative Lectionary. This calendar tells the story of God’s saving work with humanity through the viewpoint of a single Gospel, from a beginning story in September through Pentecost Sunday in late spring.

While the adults grappled with sibling jealousies and forgiveness, the children learned who Joseph is and why he is important to our story. They saw drawings of the beautiful coat that Joseph’s father, Jacob, gave to him. They got to make their own version of Joseph’s coat, using watercolor markers, coffee filters, and a lot of creative energy.
Sunday School will be learning about other Bible characters in the coming weeks, including Hannah, David, Isaiah, and Daniel. Our stories are leading up to the birth of Jesus. After Christmas we will hear stories of what Jesus taught and did.
